About this release
In 1945, two young women (Viktoria Miroshnichenko and Vasilisa Perelygina) and natives of Leningrad struggle to ascertain the meaning of their existence as their hope for a renewed future wanes amidst the devastation left by the Second World War. The women navigate the remains of their hometown, digging through the rubble to find solid foundations upon which to restore their livelihoods. Written and directed by Kantemir Balagov; co-starring Andrey Bykov and Igor Shirokov.
