Special-effects artist Ray Harryhausen's throw-back to a more innocent and charming era of stop-motion animation is, sadly, a deadly bore, with Harryhausen repeating tricks done to much better effect in his 1960s fantasies like Jason and the Argonauts and The Golden Voyage of Sinbad. Harry Hamlin plays Perseus, the son of Zeus (Laurence Olivier), in the phantasmagorical quest for the beautiful Andromeda (Judi Bowker). Along the way he encounters a variety of Harryhausen monsters and mythical figures as the Gods look down from Olympus and laugh heartily.
