In Viggo Mortensen's directorial debut, he plays John Peterson, a middle-aged gay man whose homophobic father, Lance Henriken, is living with dementia. John and his partner Eric (Terry Chen), bring the ailing man from his home to live with them in Los Angeles. However, the father's headstrong stubbornness in his archaic beliefs weigh heavily on his children and family. Also starring Laura Linney, Hannah Gross and Sverrir Gudnason.
