Directed by Irishman Jim Sheridan, Get Rich or Die Tryin' marks the feature-film debut of rapper 50 Cent. The music star plays a young man who makes his living as a gangster. After being gunned down, he miraculously survives. After getting himself back together physically, he sets out to have a career in the music industry. He learns that the old life might not leave him alone, and that what he learned in his old life might very well help him in the competitive world of the music industry.
