Directed by John Waters and starring Ricki Lake and Divine, Hairspray is a comedy set around a teenage dance television show in 1960s Baltimore. The film combines youth culture, music, social satire and feel-good storytelling while following Tracy Turnblads rise as she challenges beauty standards and racial segregation within the local TV scene.
