Hammer horror director Terence Fisher made three films for Britain's small Planet Studios, of which this may be the most entertaining.While researching possible cures for cancer a scientist's experiments produce giant tentacled creatures which live on bone marrow and begin to take over an island, sucking out the bones of the helpless inhabitants. It is up to Cushing and fellow scientist Edward Judd to stop the disgusting creatures -- who begin multiplying by splitting in two -- from killing everyone. Fisher and Cushing returned with the less interesting Island of the Burning Doomed.
