Lars Lindstrom is a painfully shy, eccentric young man living a reclusive life in a small, wintry Midwestern town. When he announces to his concerned brother and sister-in-law that he has finally found a girlfriend online, they are shocked to discover she is actually a life-sized, anatomically correct plastic doll named Bianca. On the advice of the understanding town doctor, the entire tight-knit community decides to play along with his delusion, welcoming Bianca as a real person to support Lars through his unique emotional breakthrough.
