Directed by John McTiernan and co-written by Shane Black, is a wildly self-aware fantasy action comedy that parodies the very genre it inhabits. It follows Danny Madigan, a lonely New York City kid who escapes his troubled reality by watching action movies especially those starring his idol, Jack Slater (Arnold Schwarzenegger). When Danny receives a magical golden ticket from a projectionist, hes transported into the fictional world of Slaters latest film. But when the villain Mr. Benedict (Charles Dance) discovers the ticket works both ways, he escapes into the real world forcing Slater and Danny to follow and stop him before fiction rewrites reality.
