In a future Washington, D.C., where a specialized police department called "Precrime" utilizes psychic "Precogs" to arrest killers before they commit their crimes, top detective John Anderton is entirely devoted to the system. However, the technology turns against him when the Precogs predict that Anderton will murder a complete stranger within 36 hours. Forced to flee from his own elite unit, Anderton goes on the run to find a flaw in the system—a "minority report" that might prove his innocence—while uncovering a deep conspiracy engineered within the program.
