Lucy Dell (Shirley MacLaine) is an enormously popular Hollywood comedienne. Her husband Paul (Yves Montand) has directed her in many of her biggest hits. Wanting to prove he can make a successful film without his superstar wife, Paul goes to Japan to direct a dramatic version of Madame Butterfly. Not to be left out of the film or the fun, Lucy follows Paul to Japan, dons a disguise and gives a topsyturvy spin to this delightful, gorgeously filmed romantic comedy of mistaken identities.
