Frontiersman Jeb (Robert Mitchum) is Pursued by his own inner demons in this moody psychological western. As a child, Jeb was orphaned when his family was murdered by vengeful land baron Grant (Dean Jagger). Jeb grows up unaware of the identity of his parent's killers: he only saw a pair of flashing spurs as the culprit rode off. But Grant is all too award of Jeb's identity, and he moves heaven and earth to destroy the young man. Adding spice to the proceedings is the fact that Jeb is in love with one of Grant's relations, pretty Thor Callum (Teresa Wright, whose husband Niven Busch wrote the screenplay). Often mistakenly labelled as a Warner Bros. film, Pursued was actually made by Milton Sperling's United States Productions and released through Warners.
