Gunfighter Alec Longmire (Rory Calhoun) decides to change his ways after his life is saved by fellow gunman Bud Purvis (James Millican), in a shootout. He reforms, becoming a deputy to the sheriff of Durango, Jade Murphy (Dean Jagger), an honest man who is caught between the small farmers and the local cattle baron, Rufus Henshaw (Robert Middleton). Now Longmire must use his gun for good.
