Lance Mungia made his directorial debut with this alternate-universe tale: In 1957, Russians dropped the bomb, and now tuxedo-clad warrior-musician Buddy (Jeffrey Falcon) wanders the desolate, devastated American landscape. He saves a seven-year-old boy from barbarians, and The Kid (Justin McQuire) then joins him on his Oz-like trek to Vegas. Along the way, they encounter evil ex-bowlers, Soviet fighters, Death (Stephane Gauger), the Windmill People, and the Spinach Monster. Shown at 1998 fests (Slamdance, SXSW).
