This fast paced romantic adventure has all the action and pratfalls of an old Warner Brothers cartoon. The film also contains notable special effects that transform comedian Jim Carrey into a computer generated comic book hero. The story is based on a popular comic book series in which a mild-mannered nerd becomes Loki (the Norse god of mischief and mayhem) incarnate after putting on an ancient mask. Stanely Ipkiss is a really nice guy leading a really dull life. During the day he's a loan officer at an Edge City bank. He spends many lonely nights in his apartment with his dog Milo. One night, after having been thrown out from a trendy disco, Stanley stops beside a bridge. Thinking he spies a body floating in the river below, Stanely dives in. He finds instead, a ratty old mask which he takes home and tries on. He instantly becomes the Mask, a flamboyant green skinned, enormous grinned, tornado of energy overflowing with self-confidence. He creates quite a stir his first night out. And on a subsequent night becomes enamored of a beautiful woman he had seen in the bank; she's a gangster's girl. The gangster has a plot and it's up to the Mask to foil it and still get the girl. Mayhem ensues.
