Based on the acclaimed BBC miniseries by Dennis Potter, this surreal musical crime-drama stars Robert Downey Jr. as Dan Dark, a cynical, eccentric pulp fiction novelist hospitalized with a debilitating case of skin disease. Immobilized and in constant pain, Dark retreats deep into his own mind, heavily blurring the lines between reality, his abusive childhood memories, and his latest 1950s detective novel layout. As his fictional characters break into stylized pop musical routines, his real-world psychotherapist attempts to guide him out of his psychological maze.
