Novelist Melanie Flood (Lana Turner), suspicious that her preoccupied husband, Steve (Dean Martin), is fooling around, does some digging and finds that he’s been betting on horses — and losing. Concocting a clever plan to cure her spouse of his habit, she sweet-talks Steve’s business associate, Clint (Eddie Albert), into helping her pose as Steve’s anonymous bookie. Convinced that she will save the money he loses at the track, Melanie finds herself in hot water when Steve starts winning.
