In this romantic comedy, a traveling author Christopher "Kit" Madden (Claudett Colbert) meets up with Marines Rusty Thomas (John Wayne) and Dink Watson (Don DeFore) on the way to the filming of one of her novels. As the three people travel together to Kit's destination, she conceals her true identity, due to the fact that Rusty and Dink aren't exactly fans of her work. When she and Rusty begin to fall in love, Kit is afraid to ruin their relationship by revealing who she really is.
