Il regista Paul Farley è scontento di sè, perchè vive all'ombra della moglie, Lucy Dell, di cui dirige i film. Decide quindi di mettersi in luce, facendosi affidare la direzione di un film ambientato in Giappone e per il quale occorrano attori del luogo. Ma la moglie lo segue di nascosto e, truccandosi abilmente, riesce ad ottenere la parte principale. Finito il film, Paul scopre il trucco, ma Lucy, per salvare il suo matrimonio, sacrifica la sua gloria di attrice per quella del marito regista.
